It’s a grand old hotel, beautiful interiors. Our room had high ceilings and classic shutters with paint flaking off. I love it. It’s old, the location is about 1-2 hundred yards from the Duomo. Heck, the real Mona Lisa, as in Leonardo Da Vinci’s (Lisa del Giocondo) lived in a convent and died nearby for crying out loud. What do you want? You like the comfort of a Ramada or Best Western? Then go to one of those. The breakfast room is huge, high ceilings with frescoes and with everything you could want to eat. Well, I didn’t see smoked salmon with capers or prime rib but it’s more than a super small espresso and a cigarette to be sure. Eggs, croissants, fresh juice, salami and prosciutto with good cheeses. Only complaint? The breakfast room was a titch stuffy. First world
problems right? You can take your plates
and cappuccinos onto the terrace outside if you want and the stuffy problem goes away. Plus the smell of coffee with a city morning and the sound of two pigeons mating is always special.
